• Linen is a natural plant fibre, grown from the flax plant. The crop itself is naturally pest-resistant and requires minimal water to grow, meaning it demands fewer resources than crops such as conventionally-grown cotton.
• Linen grown in France follows more traditional methods of growing and processing. For example, the crop is stripped back to prepare it for textiles using a dew-retting process. Dew-retting makes use of natural sunlight and dew to soften the crop, rather than using intensive chemical or water processes.
