i) Setting up our Register

Is it free to set up a register at Ballantynes?

Yes - and includes complimentary gift-wrapping and free first-delivery of your register to a Christchurch address.

Do we need to make an appointment to open a register at Ballantynes Christchurch?

Yes - simply book an appointment online or call us on (03) 378 1974 to arrange one. Our friendly staff will help you set up your online register and can assist with choosing items to add to your list.

Your appointment can be made for anytime within business hours, 7 days a week. We recommend allowing 2 hours for the appointment. Please check our Opening Hours.

Please note that online registries are opened at The Registry, Lower Ground Floor, Ballantynes Christchurch and can not be set up from our Timaru or Airport stores.

When can I set up my register?

You can set up a register with us anytime in advance of your wedding. We recommend 3-4 months prior.

How do we add items to our register?

This is done with the assistance of our staff. We'd recommend doing this at your initial appointment, so you can see firsthand what the items look and feel like. If you want to make changes to your register after this, please contact us.

What sort of items should we add to our register?

Here our staff excel in helpful advice and product knowledge. We generally advise you to include at least one item per Guest and a range of items at different prices, so your Guests have a choice.

Ballantynes offers many popular, high-quality brands, as well as unique collectables and the latest trends for the home, so let our expert knowledge work for you.

ii) Our Guests

Can our Guests buy online?

Yes - this makes it so much easier for family or Guests who may live overseas and want to get you something. We accept payment by major credit and debit cards, Ballantynes Account and Ballantynes Gift Cards.

How can we share our register with our Guests?

We provide free invitation cards that you can include when you mail out your own. You will be able to get these when you set up your wedding register. Also, there is the option to 'share your registry' via email or Facebook from your registry dashboard. Your registry dashboard can be accessed after setting up your register and within 3 months of your wedding date. Your register will have its own web link that you can send to Guests too.

Can we make our register 'private' so only our Guests can view it?

Yes. If you choose this option, your register will not show in Registry search results. Instead you share your register's web link with whomever you choose. The link is available from your dashboard - don't forget to share it with your Guests!

How do family and friends see our register?

Guests can search for your public register using the search box on the Registry homepage. Alternatively, you can share your register's web link with them via email or Facebook - essential if you have a 'private' register. Registers can be viewed and purchased from up to 2 weeks after the wedding's date, at which point the register is closed.

What if some of our Guests don't use a computer?

We can assist your Guests in choosing and purchasing gifts over the phone. Please ask them to call The Registry on (03) 378 1974 during business hours. Please check our Opening Hours.

What is the last date for anyone to purchase from our register?

Purchases can be made up until 2 weeks after your wedding date, when it is then closed and any unsold stock returned to the floor. You will be sent an email to your email addresses listed in your Register details a week before the closing date.

Can Guests contribute to a wishing well?

We suggest they purchase Ballantynes Gift Cards which can then be used by you to put towards unsold gifts on your list.

iii) Our Register

When will our register be 'live' and viewable online for Guests to buy from?

3 months+ prior to Wedding Date within 3 months until Register Closure Date after Register Closure Date

Your register will remain closed for viewing until 3 months prior to your wedding date. If you set up a register within 3 months of your wedding date, please allow up to 5 working days for it to appear online. At that point it will automatically 'go live' on the Registry site and be viewable by you and your Guests. This is to ensure the items you have chosen are on display.

Can we add or change products on our register up until our wedding day?

Yes - browse our website for ideas or come instore and select from our wide range of goods from our departments, including cookware, china and bed & bath as well as imports from Citta and French Country.

Please note that there may be a delay of up to 5 working days until the new products show in your online register.

Can we include an item on our list that isn't on your website?

Yes - if it's an item available from our store.

When a gift is fully purchased from our list, will it disappear from our list?

No - both you and your Guests will see the item as 'Already Purchased' and greyed out. It's important that Guests can see what has been purchased already to help avoid double ups.

You will always be able to see the status of any item added by you to your register, whether it is available, on order or already purchased.

Can we get a list of what has sold and who purchased which item?

Yes - we can provide a list of who bought which item on request, when we deliver your register. You can also login to your dashboard to see what has sold too.

How do we access our Dashboard?

You can login to your Dashboard once your register is live using the email addresses you supplied when you set up your Register. To get a password, click 'Reset My Password.' An email will be sent to you containing the reset password link. On the Registry homepage, click on Login and use your email and new password to see your Register details and gift list (which you can also purchase from yourself.)

We have a promo code - where do we enter this?

You can use the code in the shopping cart before checking out, as long as all the promotion's criteria are met.

Can we purchase from our Register after it closes?

Your register is closed to you and your Guests two weeks after the wedding date. Please see 3. Registry and Closure in our Terms & Conditions.

iv) Delivery

What is the Delivery Date?

The Delivery Date is specified by you prior to your wedding date and indicates to us how and when you would like your gifts delivered.

Gifts purchased from your register prior to the Delivery Date will be delivered by Ballantynes ('Delivered by Ballantynes'). Any gifts purchased on or after the Delivery Date (but before the 'Registry Closure Date' - the date 2 weeks after the Wedding Date) will be available for you to collect ('Couple to Collect') from Ballantynes Christchurch.

What do you charge for delivery?

Usually nothing! There are 2 delivery methods -

1) 'Delivered by Ballantynes' - any gifts purchased from when the register opens until a day before the Delivery Date will qualify for this delivery. There is no charge for the first delivery to an address within the Christchurch Delivery area. Deliveries to an address outside of the Christchurch delivery area or subsequent deliveries will be charged for.

2) 'Couple to Collect' - any gifts purchased on or after the Delivery Date (but before the Registry Close Date) will be available for the Couple to collect from Ballantynes Christchurch. No delivery charge applies.

Delivered by Ballantynes: when will our register gifts arrive?

We will contact you to arrange a suitable time for us to deliver on or as near as possible to the Delivery Date, weekdays excluding public holidays.

We offer the first delivery free to an address within the Christchurch Delivery area. Any subsequent deliveries or deliveries outside the Christchurch area will be charged for.

Couple to Collect: when will our register gifts be available?

We will contact you to arrange a suitable time for you to collect on or after the Delivery Date.

Can we have our gifts before our wedding date?

Yes, you can set your Delivery Date earlier but in our experience some Guests will leave purchasing until the last minute so you may end up having to collect a large number of gifts or have to pay for a second or subsequent delivery.

What happens if we receive a faulty or broken gift?

If a gift is faulty when you receive it, please notify us immediately. We will arrange for repair or replacement - contact The Registry on (03) 378 1974 during business hours. For further information, please see our our Terms & Conditions.

INFORMATION FOR GUESTS

How do I find the couple's register?

Try a search using one of the couple's names or email addresses in the Registry search. Note that if the Couple has opted for a 'private' register, their register will not show up in this search. In this case, the couple will need to share their web link with you to provide access to their register.

How do I buy from the Couple's register?

You can buy online or over the phone. The easiest and most convenient option is to buy online - all of the items chosen by the Couple will appear in their register list and those marked 'available' are instock and still unsold.

If you prefer to call, you can contact The Registry on 03 378 1974 during business hours and we can assist.

When can I buy from the Couple's register?

Anytime from 3 months prior to the wedding date, up until 2 weeks after (the 'Register Close Date.') If the Couple's register is not viewable when you look, you will have the option to be notified when it becomes available by providing your name and email address. You will then be sent an email notifying you that the register is viewable online.

Please note that registers are unavailable for viewing after the Register Close Date (2 weeks after the wedding date.)

What is the last date I can purchase from a register?

You can purchase from a register until 2 weeks after the wedding date, after which the register will be closed and unavailable to view.

Can we contribute to a wishing well?

We suggest purchasing Ballantynes Gift Cards for this which can then be used by the Couple to put towards unsold gifts on their list or another item instore. Please note that the Couple may choose not to offer these in their register list.
