Bring It to The Boardroom Terms & Conditions

  1. By entering this promotion, the entrant acknowledges that the nature and purpose of this promotion is to find and showcase product(s) that is/are not currently in ‘mass production’.

A Definitions

  1. ‘Ballantynes’ means J Ballantyne & Co Limited and all brands controlled by or associated with those entities.
  2. ‘Designated Representative’ could include but is not limited to a buyer, buyer associates, planners or co-ordinator employed by Ballantynes.
  3. ‘Disqualified Participants’ include:
  4. Employees of Ballantynes or their immediate family members or anyone else connected in any way with the competition or helping to set up the competition shall not be permitted to enter the competition.
  5. ‘Immediate Family’ includes Spouses, Grandparents, Parents, Children, and Grandchildren whether by marriage, past marriages, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation or other family extension.
  6. Mass Production’ broadly refers to not being in wholesale arrangements/contracts.
  7. ‘Judging Panel’ will consist of Ballantynes’ Employees
  8. ‘Promoter’ is J Ballantyne & Co Limited (Trading as Ballantynes) whose registered office is at Cnr Cashel & Colombo St, Christchurch, 8011, New Zealand.
  9. ‘Promotion’ for the purposes of these terms and conditions refers to ‘Bring it to the Boardroom’ and subsequent events or activities.

B Registration/Entry

  1. Entries to this promotion are via no later than 6:00am on 18 July 2016.
  2. In order to register, participants must provide to Ballantynes

    3. Email Address (to be used for specific communication relating to this promotion unless otherwise specified)
    4. Region
    5. Contact Phone Number
    6. Product Name/Brand
    7. Product Description
    8. Is your product currently being sold elsewhere e.g. A market stall, Trademe
    9. Acceptance of these terms and conditions
  3. Registration and entry is limited to 1 per person.
  4. No instore or online purchase is necessary to enter or participate in this promotion.
  5. ‘Disqualified Participants’ may not enter in the Promotion.
  6. Ballantynes reserves the right to exclude any person from participating in this promotion on reasonable grounds.
  7. Ballantynes reserves the right to refuse to award any prize to an entrant who Ballantynes decides (in its sole discretion) has violated the Rules or gained unfair advantage in participating in this promotion.
  8. By participating, entrants grant Ballantynes exclusive permission to use their names, photographs, videos, voices and product in connection with this Promotion and for future marketing purposes and waive any claims to royalty, right or remuneration for such use.
  9. All entrant personal details must be valid and up to date and will be held by Ballantynes and may be used for the purposes of the Promotion and for future promotion and marketing purposes in accordance with Ballantynes Privacy Policy (see unless otherwise directed by the entrant at the time of entry.
  10. Personal information provided at the time of entry is presumed to be true and, in the case of text or email notification— active, through to and beyond the date of the Promotion’s completion.

C Your Product/Design

  1. By entering this promotion, you agree that your product:
    1. is NOT:
      1. being sold in another bricks and mortar retail outlet
      2. already in commercial negotiations with another company. However, should I have entered into any such arrangements this will be made known at the time of presentation which may give Ballantynes in its absolute discretion the right to disqualify you from this promotion.
    2. Does not infringe on the copyright, patent or trademark of another product or brand whether in product is in production or not.
    3. Complies with applicable New Zealand law.

D Boardroom Presentation

  1. By entering this promotion, the entrant agrees:
  2. to make themselves available on Sunday 24 July 2016 at Ballantynes in Christchurch without limitation for the purposes of your presentation and any call back on the day to one or more designated representatives of Ballantynes.
  3. to behave appropriately when taking part in this Promotion and agrees to observe all procedures and rules and obey all instructions in force or given by any Ballantynes representatives or any other person appointed in connection with the management including Health and Safety, Fire Safety and security arrangements.
  4. A physical sample of your product must be presented on Sunday 24 July 2016, unless arrangements with Ballantynes are made prior to your presentation.
  5. The judging panel will be interested in, among other things, Design Concept, Market Application, Quality of Product, Visual Presentation, Originality and Ethics of Product.
  6. Participants will be a given a designated length of time to present their product to a designated representative of Ballantynes and may be asked questions following their presentation.
  7. You may be required to present more than once.
  8. Following all presentations, the ‘Judging Panel’ will determine the winner.

E The Prize

  1. The Prize includes:
    1. The selling of your product at Ballantynes for up to 12 months or while stocks last, with you retaining all of the proceeds
      1. This could include physical stores (Christchurch, Timaru and Christchurch International Airport) as well as online at
    2. An instore hotspot in a relevant department
    3. An editorial in one of our publications and online
    4. An optional package of advice from experts
  2. The determination of the Winner will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  3. The winner will be notified by phone by Ballantynes and must be available for the preparation of all publicity that may be required by Ballantynes.
  4. Where attempts to contact the Winner fail the Judge will select another winner.
  5. No element or aspect of The Prize is redeemable for cash or transferable.
  6. If the Winner is under the age of 18 years, their parent or legal guardian must accompany the Winner or give their prior written consent to the receipt of the prize.
  7. The Winner takes the prize entirely at his/her own risk and indemnifies Ballantynes in respect of any claim for any accident, injury, property damage or loss of life that may occur in connection with the prize. The Winner is responsible for all other costs that may be associated with the prize.
  8. Ballantynes will consult with the winner on product placement instore and with publication editorials but will make the ultimate determination.
  9. Only the person who originally pitched the product to Ballantynes can be awarded the prize (‘the Winner’).

F Ballantynes Responsibility

  1. Ballantynes reserves the right to amend, vary, extend, or discontinue this Promotion at any stage, for any reason.
  2. Ballantynes takes no responsibility for any inability to enter, complete, continue or conclude the Promotion due to equipment or technical malfunction, Acts of God or otherwise.
  3. To the fullest extent permitted by law Ballantynes will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or for personal injury as a result of Promotion entry or winning the prize.

G Acceptance

  1. Participation in the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
  2. By Participating in this event the entrant agrees that all information provided is true and accurate and that no misleading information has been provided to Ballantynes at any point during the promotion.
  3. By Participating in this Promotion the entrant agrees to Ballantynes Marketing them and their product purely for the purposes of this promotion and future promotions.
  4. If the Winner does not accept these Terms and Conditions, their eligibility to win will be forfeited.
